About Me

My name is Gavin Whelan, a currently unemployed engineer with broad interests.

I was the first employee at Aeon, leading the engineering team as the company grew to ~20 employees.

Previously worked at LaunchDarkly as a software enginner on their SDK team, building libraries critical to application all over the world. Became responsible for all SDKs for major mobile phone operating systems. With how many companies are actively using LaunchDarkly, there’s a very high chance my code is running on the readers phone many times a day.

Previously ran a contracting company, Whiteboard Dynamics, with a friend.

I’m particularly interested in both high level functional programming and statically typed languages (Scheme, Haskell), as well as embedded systems, reverse engineering, C and assembly. I also seem to run into a lot of web technologies, java, and frontend programming doing contract work and the odds and ends of projects.

I’m the ex-secretary of Bloominglabs, before I moved to Oakland.
